Hi
Over the next few weeks we are going to start seeing more drop dead gorgeous mantels, porches and vignettes overflowing with beautiful fall decor.
⠀
We can (and should!) click the like button on those lovely vignettes, we can gasp at how pretty they are, but we also can choose to decorate more simply if that's what we need in our life right now.⠀
I'm not here to say it's wrong to have a porch or surface just dripping with pretty store bought decor that has to be packed away ten months of the year: plastic pumpkins, factory made fall leaves and large and layered, season specific art.⠀
IT IS NOT WRONG.
I'm simply here to say there's another way that can also be beautiful and doesn't require buying, packing away or babysitting bins full of decor every season.⠀
⠀
You can still honor the season without it taking over your house, especially if you are longing for some simplicity right now.⠀
Sometimes too many pretties can feel like cute chaos piled onto my already full life.
Sometimes, my mantel is crying out for margin. And sometimes, by allowing for some margin and white space on my mantel, it magically translates into giving myself some margin and white space in my life.⠀
⠀
I used to style my mantel to within an inch of its life. My mantel would look like a NASCAR sponsored by Hobby Lobby sponsored by autumn.⠀
⠀
Abundant piles of pretty aren't bad, wrong or ugly --absolutely not.⠀
⠀
I'm just reminding us that there is another way and I wrote a book all about it.
⠀
Y'all, there's only one week left until Welcome Home shows up in your mailbox!
If you preorder Welcome Home, many retailers strive to have it delivered to you on the day of release which is so fun!
Also, preordering is SUCH a huge help to support the author (that's me!) it's like voting that you want more of their work.
Preorder numbers are a big benchmark with publishers, so if you know you are going to purchase a book anyway (this applies to mine--or any book) consider preordering it to help ensure your favorite authors get to write more books.
It was a HUGE honor to get to have a conversation with Wall Street Journal Bestselling author, Emily P. Freeman who hosts my all time favorite, crazy popular podcast The Next Right Thing. Every episode is thoughtful, to the point and leaves me with an actionable take away for my life.
Lastly, you know I love hanging out on Instagram, here are three posts I think you'll love:
Have a great week!
Here's to Home,

PS, today, Tuesday, September 8th at 1pm EST I'm joining in on an Instagram Live Chat with Holley Gerth and Mary Marantz as we discuss Your Home, Your Story and Your True Self. Be sure you are following us on Instagram to watch live, and I think we'll be able to save it so you can watch it later as
well.
