1. Look For Large Scale Items
To get the most amount of style with the least amount of stuff (The Cozy Minimalist way) always opt for one large statement piece instead of a handful of small pieces. If you're adding something to your mantle or table, try editing out a few small items and adding on one large item.
2. Incorporate Neutral Colors For Your Base (she writes, in pink)
I LOVE color. But I'm also finicky and like to change things up in my house with the seasons. The pink peonies look great in June, but by August I like to add in some yellows and oranges. This means I stick to neutrals for my main decor and add in pops of color with flowers, throws and pillows--every things else stays neutral which for me, means I'll use it longer.
3. Buy Multi-Functional Pieces
I used to buy a tchotchke just because it was pretty. But I've learned that my decor needs to earn its keep, it can’t just sit there and look pretty, we have to be able to use it. So now instead of a decorative figurine, I look for a pretty container that can hold things or decor with purpose like a lantern or vase.
