Happy almost Thanksgiving!
I'm not a baker, I'd almost always rather cook a meal, but I do like making this Derby pie. I can make four (yep, 4) at one time (I quadruple the recipe) and cook them all in our oven together. I like to undercook them just slightly. Once they are cooled, they fit perfectly in a ziplock bag. I don't refrigerate them, they never last long enough to go bad. But they make great gifts for neighbors and are always delicious. I think I use a different recipe every year, as long as it calls for bourbon and pecans (no walnuts) then I know I've found a good one. And yes, you can make it without the bourbon, but Chad swears it's not
near as good.
Let's take a moment to talk about something that I know is on your mind this season. Rugs. Kidding. I know you are probably not thinking about your living room rug right now, but IF you have been, this is a GREAT season for rug buying. I've found the best
sales this time of year and I wrote a post all about how to buy a rug online.

My friend Kristen is hosting the Mercy House Global Gala in Magnolia, Texas on December 1. I LOVE how Mercy House is supporting women by funding the work of Rehema House which runs two maternity
homes just outside of Nairobi, Kenya.
This year, Nesting Place sponsored a table at the Gala. Chad and I planned on attending the Gala back in August, but because of the hurricane it had to be postponed. We are SO sad that we won't be able to make it this year, BUT, we have EIGHT tickets we'd love to give away.
